Bening
Plan less, live more.

Honestly? We built this because we're also terrible at scheduling.

Bening means "clear" — which is funny, because the group chat that named this company took nine days to agree on a launch date. We build apps that help us, so they can help you spend less time on logistics and more time actually making memories.

Where it started

Two very different Sunday nights

One of us is a full-blown Hyper-Planner — rebuilding a color-coded calendar every Sunday night, moving meetings around by hand just to squeeze in fifteen minutes for a run. The other is a proud Free-Spirit who hasn't opened a calendar app since 2022, because admitting how much has slipped through the cracks felt worse than just... not looking.

Neither problem was really about time management. It was about the mental tax of deciding when. Naming the thing you want to do is easy. Finding the moment for it is the part that drains you — whether you're drowning in a packed calendar or avoiding an empty one.

So we borrowed a familiar interaction from a completely different category — the swipe — and pointed it at scheduling instead of matchmaking. You still make the call. We just do the annoying part of finding good options first.

Our bad-scheduling hall of fame

We've lived every one of these

Not hypotheticals. Actual things that happened to actual people on this team.

47
unanswered texts

The group chat record for "where should we eat?" before someone just showed up at a Wendy's, alone.

2x
double-booked, same night

Our co-founder once accepted a dentist appointment and a friend's birthday dinner for the exact same hour — the week we started building this.

11 days
a plan quietly died

"We should hang out soon!" sat in a DM for eleven days before both people silently gave up and moved on with their lives.

4
failed group polls

It took four separate scheduling polls and a 1am voice memo to agree on dates for a trip that never actually needed to be this hard.

What we believe

The principles behind every decision

01

Calm beats chaos, but zero-fluff beats calm

Nothing in Bening pulses, buzzes, or begs for attention. If a feature adds pressure instead of removing it, it doesn't ship — simple as that.

02

Hyper-Planners and Free-Spirits both win

We design for the packed calendar and the empty one in the same sitting. If a feature only helps one side, we rework it until it helps both.

03

Your calendar stays the boss

Bening suggests, you decide. Every swipe is reversible, every plan is editable, and your data is only ever used to help you — never sold, never shared.

04

Small steps beat total overhauls

We're not asking you to rebuild your whole system. Add one thing, swipe once, and see if it feels lighter. That's the whole pitch.

Who we're building for

If either of these sounds familiar, you're home

The Hyper-Planner

Back-to-back meetings, school runs, and deadlines fill every visible hour. Anything personal — the gym, therapy, a friend — gets pushed to "someday." Bening finds the someday for you, today.

The Free-Spirit

Everything lives in your head or a dozen half-answered texts. Setting up a "real" system feels like a project in itself. Bening starts from a list, not a blank grid — and no app download for your friends.

Come plan (a little) calmer with us

We're a small team building Bening in the open — we'd love your voice in the founding beta.
